Using THETA Packaging To Make VR Goggles

This is the explanation video for a winner in the Gadget category in the 2015 RICOH THETA Developers Contest. I just think this is cool. Not all interesting ideas are radically high tech. The applicant “itachin” modified the packaging from their RICOH THETA to build simple VR goggles. It’s basically like Google Cardboard, except they reused the packaging of the camera itself.

There’s an explanation page in English, but I found the video (1:28) to be a better way to quickly understand how it’s put together. The video was in Japanese, so I did a quick translation and am providing it here.

Current contest information page: http://theta360.guide/contest/ There’s still plenty of time to enter!
